about the zine
sayang girls club is a zine focused on stories from the ‘new diaspora’, how we’re growing up between worlds and building a life of our own.
created by two malaysian-chinese women living in los angeles, cheyenne and grace, we’re all about girlhood, womanhood, identity, belonging, migration, relationships, friendship, family, ambition and everything that doesn’t fit neatly into ‘just one thing’.
while rooted in the experiences of the new diaspora, the publication is ultimately for anyone who has had to negotiate multiple versions of home and self.
cheyenne is a documentary producer whose work spans multiple academy award-nominated and emmy-winning projects. she was a fellow in the netflix and blackhouse foundation nonfiction producing fellowship in 2024-2025, where she became blackhouse foundation’s historic first non-black fellow.
cheyenne was named to the forbes 30 under 30 asia list in 2022, one of only eight malaysians on the list that year. she is the writer behind hot sheets substack based in los angeles.
inspired by the truth that she rarely saw herself in ‘traditional’ asian-american media, she co-founded sayang girls club so she can create a space where she didn’t have to wait on others to tell her story.

grace is a creative human and professional sidequester. grace is am a therapist, coach, consultant, speaker, writer, facilitator, producer, and whatever she feel like doing. she is from malaysia but has lived in beijing, new york, hong kong, and now los angeles.
she is one of the co-hosts on the podcast, tcm talk therapy, where she and jen, an experienced doctor of chinese medicine, explore the intersection of eastern and western healing practices.
her hope with co-founding sayang girls club is to have a creative space for herself, and build a space on the internet and irl that’s for us to be fully ourselves, whatever that means to you when you read this bio.
